Bob Coolen announced the signing of five players for the 2016 season. Jennifer Iseri, Heather Cameron, Nicole Lopez, Sarah Muzik, and Naomi Monahan have all signed their National Letters of Intent to become the newest Rainbow Wahine for the class of 2019.
Iseri is a utility/pitcher who when not in the circle can play in the outfielder or at first base from Cerritos High School in Cerritos, Calif. She is a hard throwing pitcher with movement and a full arsenal of pitches at her disposal. Last season, she posted a 15-4 record with a 1.78 ERA and 189 strikeouts in 117 2/3 innings pitched. At the plate, she led her league-championship team with a .526 batting average, 30 runs scored, 15 doubles, and six home runs. She also drove in 24 runs on 41 hits with a .948 slugging percentage. Cameron plays at catcher and in the outfield and is teammates with Iseri from Cerritos High School. Cameron hit .381 last season and was a scholar-athlete in 2012 and '13. She was named to all-league second team in 2012 and '13, all-area second team in 2014, and first team all-league in 2014. Additionally, she was crowned Best Teammate in 2014 and Best Offensive Player in 2013.
Lopez is currently a senior at Mid-Pacific Institute in Honolulu, O'ahu where she plays third base and is the reigning
Star-Advertiser All-State Position Player of the Year. Last year, the junior from 'Aiea, O'ahu who is known for her "prolific offense" and steady, fundamentally-sound defense at the hot corner, posted a .500 batting average with six home runs, 22 runs scored and 25 RBI. Eleven of her 22 hits were for extra bases. Also in 2014 she was
Scoring Live's "Hawai'i D1 Player of the Year", named the league's Most Valuable Player. Lopez has also gotten the job done in the classroom, making the school's honor roll each year.
Monahan is a right-handed pitcher/second baseman from Roseville High School in Roseville. Calif. She is a hard-throwing, power pitcher, with the rare ability to throw a knuckleball in softball. On offense, Monahan has hit clean-up since her freshman year. Last year as a junior, she hit for a .311 average with four doubles, one triple and two home runs. In the pitching circle, she tallied a 16-3 record with four saves as a junior with a 2.18 ERA in 125.1 innings pitched. She walked 59 batters while striking out 131. She was named to the all-league second team and team's Offensive Most Valuable Player as a freshman. In 2014 she helped to lead the tigers to a fourth place finish in sectionals and was named all-league first team and was selected as the Sacramento River Cats All City Athlete Award.
Muzik is a shortstop from Notre Dame High School in Hollister, Calif. with an incredible softball IQ. At the plate, the versatile Muzik can bunt/slap and hit from the left (throws right) and last season, was hard to get out as she recorded a .540 batting average, scoring 41 runs with 22 RBI, three doubles, seven triples and two home runs. In 2014, Muzik was voted first team all-league, all-county, and all-state, additionally, she was named County Player of the Year.
