Women’s Soccer Embarks On Big West Road Trip

The University of Hawai'i women's soccer team will play its first Big West Conference road matches this year when it travels to UC Santa Barbara on Friday, Oct. 10 (7:00 pm. PT/4:00 p.m. HT) and Cal Poly on Sunday, Oct. 12 (12:00 p.m. PT/9:00 a.m. HT).

UH opened up league action with a home split versus Cal State Fullerton and UC Riverside. The Rainbow Wahine opened their Big West season with a 2-1 loss to Fullerton—the third straight year they lost to the Titans by one goal. However, the team bounced back three days later when they overcame a 1-0 deficit late in the match to pull off a 2-1 overtime win over UC Riverside on Krystal Pascua's golden goal in the 103rd minute.

UH now heads back to the road where they sport a better record than at home. The Rainbow Wahine, who are 3-5 at home this year, are 3-1 on the mainland so far this season and are 7-4-1 in their last 12 road matches dating back to last year.

The Rainbow Wahine lead the Big West in goals (25) and goals per match (2.08). Leading the way is sophomore Storm Kenui with five goals, including the equalizer in UH's eventual win over UC Riverside on Sunday. Kenui, who is fourth in the Big West in goals scored, has found the back of the net in four of the last six matches.

UH has split its two Big West meetings with UC Santa Barbara, including a 1-0 victory in Honolulu last year. The 'Bows, meanwhile, are winless all-time versus Cal Poly (0-4) and are looking to avenge a 3-2 overtime home loss from last season.
