UH Green Captures Peter Wenner Rainbow Invite

HONOLULU –The University of Hawai`i sailing team had a strong start to the spring season at the Peter Wenner Rainbow Invite held Jan. 18-19 at Keehi Lagoon. The UH Green team beat out 12 other squads representing seven schools to capture the annual regatta.
 
Thirteen races in each the A and B divisions were completed during the two-day event, named after former Rainbow sailor Peter Wenner. The Green Team posted 92 points total to easily distance itself from runner-up University of Victoria (108 points). UH Green  was powered by Adam Pokras and Ana-Melissa Kea  in the A division and Giacomo Paoletti and Kellie Yamada in the B division.
 
Host Hawai`i fielded four teams in all, including three coed and one women's team. The women's team also had a strong showing placing third in the field. UH Black finished sixth and UH White placed ninth.
 
The Rainbow Wahine next race at the South Florida Intersectional, Feb. 15-16, while the coed team will compete in the McIntyre Team Race, March 1-2 in Redwood City, Calif.
