'Bows Fall To Minnesota In Regular Season Finale

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's and women's swim teams competed in their final regular season meet on Saturday, falling to Minnesota on senior day at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.

The 'Bows dominated several events but Paulo de Paula gave UH its only first place finish. He took top honors in the men's 100 breaststroke with a time of 56:53.

Karl-Richard Hennebach had a pair of sliver finishes for the Rainbow Warriors, placing second in the 50 free (21:05) and 100 fly (49:50). Victor Goicoechea finished second in the 1000 free (9:21.99) and Yuri Samouilich did the same in the 200 free (1:39.32).

Madi Uekawa had a solid showing in the women's 100 backstroke, placing second with a time of 1:06.32.

The most success of the day came in the men's 100 fly, 400 IM, and 500 free. Hawai'i accounted for four of the top five finishers in each event.
With the regular season completed, the 'Bows now turn their attention to the MPSF Swimming Championships. The competition runs from Feb. 19-22 in Monterey, Calif.
