FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. –
Tiana Fujimoto scored the golden goal with two minutes remaining in the first overtime period to lift the University of Hawai'i women's soccer team to 1-0 win over Northern Arizona Sunday at Lumberjack Stadium.
The win snapped a two-game skid for the Rainbow Wahine and evened their record at 4-4 overall, including a 3-1 mark on the road this year. UH's three road wins this year already equals the cumulative total of the three previous seasons.
UH held a remarkable 19-5 shot advantage for the match and were finally able to breakthrough in the 98th minute.
Karli Look fired a shot off the crossbar and Fujimoto was able to put home the rebound to give UH the win. Fujimoto has scored the game-winning goal in three of UH's wins and leads the team with five scores on the season.
Two days after surrendering a season-high four goals at Arizona, the UH defense was stout as freshman goalkeeper
Monk Berger posted her third road shutout of the year. The Rainbow Wahine backline allowed just five NAU (4-2-3) shots in nearly 100 minutes of action.
The Rainbow Wahine will now return home to face Hawai'i Pacific in its final non-conference match of the season on Wednesday, Sept. 25. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Stadium.
