The University of Hawai'i football team will play its second Pac-12 opponent in as many weeks when it travels to Oregon State this week for a match-up against the Beavers, Saturday, Sept. 7 at Reser Stadium in Corvallis, Ore.
Both teams are coming off losses last week. The Rainbow Warriors (0-1) dropped their opener to No. 24 USC, 30-17 while the Beavers (0-1) surrendered the winning touchdown to Eastern Washington in the final minute of a 49-46 setback in Corvallis.
UH hung tough with the Trojans for much of the first half before allowing USC to score 17 unanswered points in the final 4:18 to trail 20-5 at the half. Quarterback
Taylor Graham, making his first career collegiate start, threw for 208 yards and one touchdown, but his four interceptions led to 20 Trojan points. Linebacker
Brenden Daley helped lead the Hawai'i defense with a game-high 10 tackles, including 4.0 for loss, one sack, and one forced fumble.
OSU managed 527 yards of total offense against EWU, however its defense surrendered 625 total yards. Quarterback Sean Mannion threw for 422 yards and three scores while Brandin Cooks had 13 receptions for 196 yards for the Beavers, who overcame a 29-17 halftime deficit.
UH and OSU have met eight previous times with the Beavers holding a 5-3 advantage. The teams first met in 1924 while OSU won the only meeting in Corvallis in the teams' last match-up in 2008.
