Box Score

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i Warrior tennis team entered Tuesday with a share of the Big West Conference lead and just two matches remaining on their schedule, but fell 4-3 to Cal Poly at the Mustang Courts to slip into third place.

UH, Cal Poly, and Pacific entered Tuesday all tied for the league lead at 3-1. The Warriors (6-12, 3-2 BWC) now need a win at UC Santa Barbara in their regular season finale for a shot at the regular season title and the No. 1 seed in next week's Big West Tournament.

The Mustangs (12-8, 4-1 BWC) made quick work of Hawai'i in doubles play. Jonathan Brooklyn and Dmytro Kovalyov fell 8-1 at the one to Andre Dome and Jordan Bridge, then Cal Poly captured the point when Marco Comuzzo and Matt Thompson topped Nils Schuhmann and Carter Lam, 8-2.

Dome, the nation's 25th-ranked singles player, blanked Jared Spiker at the one to open singles play and Danilo Casanova lost at the six as Cal Poly moved to within one point of the win. Chas Okamoto topped Derek Klein, 6-2, 6-3 at the four but Bridge then beat Kovalyov in a close 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 match on the No. 3 court to give the Mustangs the win.

UH and UCSB will play on Wednesday, Apr. 17 at 1:30 p.m. PT (10:30 HT).
