Men's Tennis Serves Xavier This Week

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team concludes its homestand on Thursday, Feb. 28, against the Xavier Musketeers (9-1) before going on a four-match swing through California. Xavier comes in riding a nine-match win streak.

The Warriors (2-4) are coming off a pair of losses to then-No. 66 San Diego State (Feb. 14) and Pacific (Feb. 15). UH fell to the Aztecs 5-2 then one day later were outdone by the Tigers. SDSU had its way with Hawai'i in doubles, but singles wins by Chas Okamoto and Dmytro Kovalyov kept the Aztecs from running away with the win.

The Pacific match again saw the Warriors lose the double point. Okamoto and Danilo Casanova kept UH close with their singles victories, but SDSU's Alex Goulding rallied to beat Jonathan Brooklyn to clich the win and drop UH to 0-2 on the week.

Okamoto has won his last four singles matches making his overall record 4-2 heading into his match against the Musketeers. Okamoto has been the most consistent player this season for the Warriors on the No. 4 court with a 3-2 record and a 1-0 record on the No. 5 court.
