Women's Basketball Takes on Grand Canyon

Game Notes

The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team (6-5, 0-0 Big West) will play its final game of 2013 on the road at Grand Canyon on Monday, Dec. 23 at 1:00 p.m. The Rainbow Wahine are looking back to rebound after its loss at USC, 66-55.
 
Hawai'i continues to be led by senior forward Kamilah Jackson who is averaging a career-high 16.9 points with 9.8 rebounds a game. She has recorded seven double-doubles in 11 games this season. She has recorded double-digit points in 10-of-11 games this season. Jackson is also tied with fellow senior Sydney Haydel and Destiny King for the team lead with 13 steals. Jackson is just the second Rainbow Wahine to surpass the 1,000 point/1,000 rebound mark. Currently, in her career, she has 1,383 points and 1,061 rebounds.
 
Ashleigh Karaitiana is second on the team averaging 10.5 points per game and leads UH with 14 treys. Karaitiana has scored in double-digits in five of UH's last six games. King has also been putting up solid numbers for the 'Bows. She leads UH with 28 assists and is second on the team averaging 5.3 rebounds while adding 7.4 points per game.
 
Joining the team on this roadtrip is Kalei Adopho, a 6-1 junior center, who recently completed her women's volleyball season. Adolpho, has appeared in 43 games with 21 starts on the hardwood, has averaged 4.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per game with 38 blocks in her first two seasons. She made her first appearance of the season at USC, playing two minutes.
 
Grand Canyon of the Western Athletic Conference is off to an impressive 9-2 start this season and is currently on a four-game wining streak. The Antelopes have four players averaging in double-figures in points, led by Judy Jones' 14.5 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. It is the first meeting between Grand Canyon and Hawai'i.

Head Coach: Hawai'i head coach Laura Beeman is in her second season with the Rainbow Wahine. She has a 23-18 record at UH. At Mt. San Antonio, she recorded a 390-110 record in the junior college ranks. GCU head coach Trent May is in his sixth year with the Antelopes with a 130-46 record. Overall, he has compiled a 246-112 record in 12 seasons.
