The University of Hawai'i football team continues its 10-day road trip with a non-conference game at Navy, Saturday, Nov. 9. Kick-off is 3:30 p.m. ET (10:30 a.m. HT) at Navy-Marines Corps Memorial Stadium and will be televised nationally on CBS Sports Network.
The Rainbow Warriors (0-8, 0-6 Mountain West) are in the midst of a two-game, 10-day road trip covering 10,000 miles and six time zones. UH opened the trip with a 47-10 loss to Utah State which dropped the Warriors to 0-8 on the season. Hawai'i is one of five remaining winless teams in FBS.
The match-up pits two Polynesian head coaches – a first in FBS history. Navy's Ken Niumatololo, a former UH quarterback and assistant coach, is of Samoan decent while UH's
Norm Chow is of Hawaiian decent. Niumatololo, who last month was inducted into the Polynesian Hall of Fame, was the second Polynesian head coach of a major college program (UH's Larry Price was the first in 1974) while Chow became the third when he took the UH job in 2012.
The Midshipmen enter the game with a 4-4 mark following a 38-34 loss at Notre Dame last week. Navy ranks ninth nationally in rushing with a 297 yards per game average.
Hawai'i won both previous meetings, including a 2009 game in Honolulu, in which the Warriors prevailed 24-17 and shut out Navy's potent triple option offense in the second half.
