Women’s Soccer Hosts Senior Day On Sunday

Match Notes

The University of Hawai'i women's soccer team plays its final regular-season home match of the year when it hosts Cal State Northridge on Sunday, Nov. 3. Kickoff is set for noon at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium and admission is free.

UH's six departing seniors—Malé Fresquez, Bree Locquiao, Karli Look, McKenzie McGoldrick, Chelsea Miyake and Skye Shimabukuro—will be honored following the match as part of Senior Day festivities.

It will mark the final home match of the year for the Rainbow Wahine (7-8-1, 2-4-1 BWC), who are mathematically still alive for one the four spots in the Big West Tournament but remain a long shot to secure a berth. CSUN (6-11-1, 1-5-1 BWC) has aready been knocked out of postseason contention and denied the opportunity to defend the tournament title that it won last year.

UH now looks to end the season on a high note and send its six seniors out as winners. The Rainbow Wahine—who will be coming off a 10-day layoff—are an uncharacteristic 2-5 in matches played at Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Stadium this year, including a crushing 2-1 setback to UC Irvine in its last outing on Oct. 24.

UH is led by Tiana Fujimoto who has scored more than half of the team's goals and ranks second in the Big West in the category (9). Meanwhile, goalkeeper Monk Berger has posted a single-season record six shutouts as a true freshman.
