LOS ANGELES – The University of Hawai'i sailing team competed in a trio of events during the PCCSC Fall Championships, hosted by USC, Oct. 25-27. UH sailors competed in the men's and women's singlehanded championships, while the Rainbow Wahine finished runner up in the PCCSC Women's Dinghy Fall Championship.

The Rainbow Wahine, who captured the fall championship last year, fell short of defending its title after notching 44 points, eight points behind regatta champion UC Santa Barbara. A total of 14 races in two divisions were completed over the weekend with nine schools competing.

Madeline Kennedy and Katrina Berry won the A division for the second-straight year with a regatta-low 14 points and three top finishes in seven races. Cecilia Jansson and Louise Currie place fourth in the B division with 40 points.

A day before the dinghy championship began, sailors Kennedy and Jansson competed in the PCCSC Women's Singlehanded championship, finishing fifth and sixth, respectively. The men then took to the water on Saturday and Sunday with Mackenzie Cook finishing seventh and Jacob Paoletti placing 10th in a 15-sailor field.

The coed team will be back in action Nov. 2-3 at the PCCSC Match Racing Championship in San Francisco, while the Rainbow Wahine will not be in action until January when the team hosts the Peter Wenner Rainbow Invitational at Ke'ehi Lagoon.
