Final Results
SONOMA, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team finished in 16
th place at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational Tuesday at the Sonoma Golf Club.
The Rainbow Warriors finished the two-day tournament at 895 (300-297-298) after a final round 298. Fourth-ranked and host California won the tournament going away at 825, 22 strokes better than runner-up UC Davis, who marched up the leaderboard with an 11-under 277 on Tuesday to finish at 847.
UH's
Tommy Yamashita was the team's top finisher at 6-over 222 (73-72-77) for the tournament. The Honolulu native tied for 53
rd overall after a final round 77. One stroke back was Hilo's
Nainoa Calip, who finished at 223 (74-73-76) and a tie for 57
th.
Cal's Joel Stalter held on to win the tournament with a final round 70, including a birdie on the 16
th hole, to finish at 13-under 203, one stroke ahead of Oregon State and Kailua native David Fink, who shot a final round 68 for a 12-under 204 total.
Freshman Sky Inakoshi and senior
David Saka each shot 1-over 73 on Tuesday. Inakoshi, a freshman from Honolulu, had a solid day before finishing double-bogey, bogey to finish at 225 (75-77-73) and a tie for 64
th place. Saka, a senior from Honolulu, overcame an illness and posted five birdies in his round.
Sophomore
Scotty Yamashita concluded the tournament with a final round 76 for a 229 total (78-75-76) for a tie for 73
rd.
The Rainbow Warriors will next compete in dual matches against UC Irvine and Loyola Marymount, Friday, Oct. 18, and Saturday, Oct. 19 before competing in the Bill Callum Invitational, Monday, Oct. 21 and Tuesday, Oct. 22.
