Day 1 Results

SONOMA, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team completed the first two rounds of the Alister MacKenzie Invitational in 16^th place Monday at the Sonoma Golf Club.
 
Leading the Rainbow Warriors was senior Tommy Yamashita, who is currently tied for 35^th place, after rounds of 73 and 72 for a 1-over 145 total. The Honolulu native got off to a strong start in both rounds, carding three birdies each through his first nine holes.
 
Host and fourth-ranked California has a 21-stroke lead after two rounds with a 541 total. Cal's Joel Stalter is the day one leader at 11-under (64-69), one stroke over teammates Brandon Hagy (70-64) and Pace Johnson (66-68).
 
The Warriors, who have a 597 total (300-297), played the second round with just four individuals as senior David Saka was forced to withdraw due to illness after a first round 80.
 
Also competing for UH are senior Nainoa Calip (74-73/t44), freshman Skye Inakoshi (75-77/t69), sophomore Scotty Yamashita (78-75/t73).
 
The tournament concludes on Tuesday.
