The University of Hawai'i women's soccer team begins league competition on the road when it travels to Cal State Fullerton and UC Riverside for a pair of Big West matches this weekend.
 
The Rainbow Wahine will face Cal State Fullerton (5-3-3), the defending regular-season champs, in the Big West opener for both squads on Friday, Oct. 4 at 7:00 p.m. PT (4:00 p.m. HT), then will take on UC Riverside (3-7-1) on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 1:00 p.m. PT (10:00 a.m. HT) .
 
UH wrapped up its non-conference schedule on Sept. 25 with a narrow 1-0 win over crosstown rival Hawai'i Pacific. Tiana Fujimoto scored the game-winning goal in the 84th minute to lift UH to its second straight win. It was the junior forward's second straight game-winning score after her golden goal in overtime at Northern Arizona three days earlier.
 
The Rainbow Wahine now enter league play with a 5-4 overall record, the fourth-best non-conference mark in the Big West. UH was selected to finish seventh in the preseason coaches poll released in August. Last year, the Rainbow Wahine went 3-5-1 en route to a sixth-place finish during its inaugural Big West campaign. UH entered that season picked tied for last in the preseason poll.
