Rainbow Warriors To Host Spartans This Saturday

Game Notes | Watch Video |

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i football team will look to snap a season-opening four-game losing streak when it hosts San Jose State, Saturday, Oct. 5 at Hawaiian Airlines Field at Aloha Stadium. Kickoff for the Mountain West contest is 6:00 p.m.

The Rainbow Warriors (0-4, 0-2 MW) dropped to 0-2 in conference play following a 42-37 loss to No. 25 Fresno State last Saturday. UH nearly erased a 42-3 third quarter deficit, scoring 34 unanswered points and had a chance for the win but its final drive stalled as quarterback Sean Schroeder's pass was picked off nearly the end zone.

Schroeder relieved starter Ikaika Woolsey, who was making his first career start, by throwing for 321 yards and three touchdowns in under two quarters of action.

The Spartans (1-3, 0-1) dropped their third straight contest after a 40-12 home loss to Utah State last week. Quarterback David Fales ranks 11th nationally averaging 298.5 yards per game while linebacker Kevin Smith leads the nation in tackles per game (17.8).
