BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i soccer team dropped its third straight match with a 3-1 loss at CSU Bakersfield Friday night.

The Rainbow Wahine (5-4-2) surrendered an early goal, then two more after the break in suffering a setback in its final regular-season non-conference match of the year.
Midfielder Alex Gerrain scored UH's lone goal in the 77th minute, the freshman's first score of her career.

Back on the pitch for the first time in nearly two weeks, UH got tagged early on when
Sam Pena put in a header in the 13th minute off assists by Daisy Vazquez and Leilani Skinner.

The score stood for the better part of next 50 minutes until Megan Todd gave the Road Runners (4-7-1) a two-goal edge in the 72nd minute when her long-distance shot went inside the left corner of the goal.

The Rainbow Wahine answered five minutes later when Gerrain nailed a rebound shot following a Christy Watanabe attempt. But CSUB slammed the door on any UH comeback hopes when Kiara Burkett scored her team's third and final goal in the 86th minute off CSUB counter-attack.

Senior goalkeeper Kanani Taaca had seven saves in the loss as the Road Runners out-shot the Rainbow Wahine, 12-10.  The loss was UH's 16th in its last 18 matches on the mainland.

The Rainbow Wahine will now get set to make its Big West debut when they play at Cal State Northridge on Sunday, Sept. 30. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. PT (3:00 p.m. HT).
