Game Notes
The University of Hawai'i women's soccer team returns to the field after a nearly two-week break from regular-season action with a pair of matches in California this weekend.
UH (5-3-2) will face CSU Bakersfield (3-7-1) in the team's final non-conference match of the year on Friday, Sept. 28 before making its Big West debut on the road at Cal State Northridge (3-3-3), Sunday, Sept. 30.
It will be four straight road matches for the Rainbow Wahine who are coming off a pair of road losses at Washington State (2-0) and Eastern Washington (2-1) nearly 10 days ago. Prior to those losses, the Rainbow Wahine were unbeaten in seven straight matches, tying a school record.
UH returned to Honolulu to play its alumnae match this past Sunday, posting a 4-1 win, but now will return to the mainland looking to end its current two-match skid. The Rainbow Wahine are 1-3 on the road so far this season with its lone win coming in a 5-4 victory at UNLV.
The Rainbow Wahine also look to get back on track offensively. The Rainbow Wahine have scored just one goal in its last two matches. Still, Hawai'i continues to lead the Big West Conference in total goals (19) and goals per game (1.90). In its Big West opener, UH's explosive offense will be pitted against a Cal State Northridge squad that has allowed just six goals in nine matches this year and leads the Big West in goals against average (0.61).
