HONOLULU – Following its first bye week of the season, the University of Hawai'i Warrior football team returns to the gridiron by hosting Lamar, a member of the Football Championship Subdivision's Southland Conference, Saturday, Sept. 15. Kick-off is 6:05 p.m. at Hawaiian Airlines Field at Aloha Stadium.
The Warriors (0-1) opened the season with a road loss to then-No. 1 USC two weeks ago in Los Angeles. In that game, UH got off to a rough start, falling behind 35-0 at the half before falling 49-10. Hawai'i's featured seven first-time starters, including quarterback
Sean Schroeder, who finished the game passing for 208 yards and one touchdown.
The Cardinals (1-1) opened their season with a 40-0 loss to Louisiana-Lafayette two weeks ago but rebounded with a 31-0 shutout of Prairie View A&M at home on Saturday. In the win, quarterback Ryan Mossakowski passed for 224 yards and two touchdowns, both to wide receiver Kevin Johnson, who also rushed for a score.
Saturday's game is the first meeting between the schools.

Hawai'i is 62-28-5 (.679) all-time in home openers, including a 20-17 record at Aloha Stadium…UH is 1-0 against current teams of the Southland Conference, having defeated Central Arkansas in 2009…UH has won 10 of its last 11 games versus Football Championship Subdivision teams…This year marks the seventh consecutive season and 11th time in the last 12 seasons, UH will play an FCS team…UH has won its last three home openers vs. FCS teams (2009 vs. Central Arkansas, 2008 vs. Weber State, 2007 vs. Northern Colorado)…The last time UH had a home opener this late in the season was in 2006 (Sept. 16 vs. UNLV), which incidentally was the last time Hawai'i had a bye week following its season opener…UH has not sarted 0-2 to start the season since 2005…Since 2000, UH is 9-8 in games following bye weeks and 13-4 in games after playing a ranked opponent…UH has lost five of its last six games dating back to last season.
