LONDON, England – University of Hawai'i swimmer
Jasmine Alkhaldi (Philippines) competed Wednesday morning in the women's 100m freestyle at the London 2012 Olympic Games at the Aquatics Center, but failed to advance out of the quarterfinal round.
Alkhaldi finished fifth of eight swimmers in her heat but did not qualify for the semifinals. She swam the race in a time of 57.13 which was 1.76 seconds off heat winner Dara Eszter of Hungary.
Alkhaldi will be entering her sophomore year at UH after a solid freshman season. Aside from earning Mid-Major All-America honors, she holds the team's top times in all of the short-distance freestyle events.

Melanie Schlanger (Australia) also competed in the 100m free, winning both her quarterfinal and semifinal heat to advance to Thursday's final.
