STANFORD, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's track and field team posted several Top 10 finishes on the first day of the Stanford Invitational, Friday, at Cobb Track and Angell Field.
The event attracted thousands of competitors ranging from open, collegiate, and youth divisions, including 18 members of the Rainbow Wahine track and field team.
Most of UH's athletes were in action on Friday, including high jumpers
Sarah Saddleton and
Samantha Balentine, who each tied for fourth. The duo each cleared 5-7.25 (1.71m).
Junior
Cecilia Durocher tied for third in the pole vault with a clearance of 12-3.5 (3.75m). In the javelin, senior
Kellsey Trimble placed fifth in the collegiate division with a throw of 126-4 (38.52m).
A pair of Rainbow Wahine competed in the invitational division of the hammer throw with
Emma MacCorquodale finishing in sixth place with a throw of 177-11 (54.22m) while
Joanna Franke-Kuhn took 12
th at 168-0 (51.20m).
In the shot put, senior
TeRina Keenan was 10
th in the invitational division with a mark of 45-9 (13.94m).
