HONOLULU – Wednesday's men's tennis match between the University of Hawai'i and No. 30 North Carolina at the UH Tennis Complex was cancelled due to rain. The match will not be rescheduled.
The two teams had finished doubles play before the rains came after the start of the singles matches. The Tarheels captured all three doubles matches and took a 1-0 lead heading into single action.
The doubles point was decided after the UH pairs of
Nils Schuhmann and
Jared Spiker, and
Chas Okamoto and
Chris Meyer fell in the three and two matches, respectively. The most competitive match was played at the one, where
Carter Lam and
Charlie Rice were edged by UNC's Brennan Boyajian and Oystein Steiro, 9-7.
The Rainbow Warriors now embark on a five-day, three-match road trip beginning in Los Angeles, Calif. on Mar. 10 against fourth-ranked UCLA. UH then plays Nevada in Santa Barbara, Calif. on Mar. 12 for their Western Athletic Conference opener, and closes the trip at Loyola Marymount (Mar. 14).
