Men’s Tennis Falls To No. 27 Tulsa In Rain-Shortened Affair

Box Score

FRESNO, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team battled another ranked opponent, but No. 27 Tulsa took down the Rainbows, 5-1, on Sunday at the Spalden G. Wathan Tennis Center. Due to a six-hour rain delay, the two teams opted to play only singles to decide the match. UH fell to 3-9 while Tulsa improved to 10-7.

Jonathan Brooklyn continued to stake his claim as one of the Western Athletic Conference's top performers, securing UH's lone win on the day with a 3-6, 7-5, (10-8) comeback victory over No. 68 Japie De Klerk.

Dymtro Kovalyov and Jared Spiker had their hands full against a pair of ranked opponents at the two and three, respectively. Kovalyov fell 7-5, 6-3 to No. 97 Clifford Marsland and Spiker lost to No. 75 Ashley Watling, 6-3, 6-2.

Tulsa won the first four matches to secure the win. The deciding point came when David Schuster was swept by Tristan Jackson, 6-3, 6-4, at the five.

The 'Bows now return home to host UC Davis on Friday, Mar. 30. First serve at the UH Tennis Complex is set for 11:30 a.m.
