Men’s Tennis Edged By Loyola Marymount, 5-2

Los Angeles, Calif. – The University of Hawai`i men's tennis team (2-7) could not come up with a win Wednesday against Loyola Marymount (7-5), battling closely in every match at the LMU Tennis Center.
 
In doubles action, the Rainbow Warriors trailed before Carter Lam and Charlie Rice tied the score with an 8-6 win over Todd Volmari and Daniel Simko.  In the deciding match to secure the doubles point, Jonathan Brooklyn and Dmytro Kovalyov could not finish in the tiebreaker, when they were downed by Nicholas Bjerke and Sebastian Bustamant, 9-8 (7-1), securing the point for the Lions.
 
With the Rainbow Warriors down 2-0, Dmytro Kovalyov gave light with a three-set win against Sebastian Bustamante, 2-6, 6-4, 6-0. Chas Okamoto added to the win column playing in the No. 2 court against Alex Wilton, 7-5, 4-6, 6-2, making it four matches that went into the third set in singles.
 
The 'Bows will go on another three-game road trip in Fresno, Calif. UH will look to improve its record 2-0 in conference play when they face-off against New Mexico State on Thursday, Mar. 22 at 11:00 a.m. PT.
