HONOLULU – Results from Saturday's Dr. Donnis Thompson Memorial results at the Clarence T.C. Ching Field. The competition was the second of five all-comer meets in the Sunset Series that the University of Hawai'i women's track and field team will host this season.
After a four-week hiatus, junior
Ashlee Jimenez returned to competition by winning the 400-meters with a season-best time of 58.56 seconds. In the same event, freshman
Melody Papalii posted a personal best of 59.18 seconds to place second while sophomore
Ashley Satterwhite took third with a season-best 59.48 seconds.
Junior
Cecilia Durocher equaled her personal best in the pole vault with height of 12-1.5 (3.70m) to win the event. Sophomore
Joanna Franke-Kuhn also posted a personal best in the hammer throw with a mark of 177-3 (54.04m) in her first-place performance.
The Rainbow Wahine will next compete in the Husky Classic and UW Open next weekend in Seattle, Wash. The two meets are the final indoor competitions for Hawai'i before the Western Athletic Conference Championships in Nampa, Idaho in two weeks.
