Game Notes
LOGAN, Utah—The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team embarks on its final Western Athletic Conference roadtrip to play at Utah State and Idaho this week. The 'Bows will battle Utah State on Thursday, March 1 at 7:00 pm and Idaho on Saturday, March 3 at 2:00 p.m.
The Rainbow Wahine have won three of their last four ballgames—including a come-from-behind win over Nevada this past Saturday on Senior Night, 72-68. Currently, the 'Bows are tied with San Jose State at 6-6 for fourth place in the WAC, but the Spartans hold the advantage after sweeping two games from UH this season. With the win over Nevada, it is the first time since the 2005-06 season that UH has won three home-and-home WAC series.
Hawai'i is led by sophomore forward
Kamilah Jackson who is averaging a double-double with 13.1 points and 10.5 rebounds a game. Jackson is ranked No. 14 in the NCAA DI in rebounds per game, No. 11 with 14 double-doubles this season, and No. 295 with 13.1 points per game. Jackson has had a solid all-around sophomore campaign, improving in free-throws (.694%), assists (53), and steals (23). She bettered her double-double total of 13 last season this past Saturday in the win over Nevada. As a sophomore, Jackson is already No. 7 in the UH career record book in rebounds with 616 (233 offensive and 383 defensive).
Sophomore forward
Vicky Tagalicod has made a huge impact for the Rainbow Wahine since becoming eligible in mid-December. The transfer from USC is averaging 10.1 points and 5.2 rebounds per game with 21 assists and 11 steals. Tagalicod has also served as back-up point guard for UH to give freshman
Alissa Campanero a breather in games.
Breanna Arbuckle is closing out her senior season strong. She had a five-game streak of scoring in double-figures snapped against Nevada but is still averaging a career-high 9.8 points per game. She moved into third place all-time in UH history for blocked shots (143), is No. 8 with 609 rebounds, No. 9 with 263 free throws made and No. 4 in free throw attempts with 499.
