Round 2 Tee Times
KAHUKU, O'ahu – The University of Hawaii men's golf team is in 10
th place following completion of the first round of the 36
th John A. Burns Intercollegiate, Wednesday at the Turtle Bay Resort's Arnold Palmer Course.
California leads a stacked 18-team field, which includes five nationally ranked teams by shooting an 18-under 270 as all five Golden Bears shot under par. Duke's Julian Suri is the first round individual leader after firing a 7-under 65. Cal's Max Homa, who lost a three-way playoff at last year's Burns, and Joel Stalter are in a three-way tie for second at 6-under 66 with New Mexico's James Erkenbeck.
The Warriors were led by senior
T.J. Kua, who shot a 2-under 70, which is tied for 15
th place in the 105-player field. Kua's round included an eagle at the par-4 No. 2, where he holed out from 125 yards out, and two birdies.
Junior
Cory Oride finished 1-under 71 and is in a tie for 22
nd place. Oride was steady throughout the day, with two birdies and a bogey-free round until reaching the 17
th hole, in which he posted his only bogey of the day.
Sophomore
Tommy Yamashita birdied the par-5 18
th to finish at even-par 72. His round included three birdies and three bogeys. Also competing for UH were sophomore
Nainoa Calip (77) and
Alex Chu (79).

Behind the 11
th-ranked Golden Bears in the team standings are No. 11 New Mexico (274), No. 15 UNLV (278), SMU (282), and No. 20 Duke (282). UH shot a 2-over 290.
The tournament continues on Thursday with the second round at the Palmer Course.
