Men’s Basketball Hosts New Orleans On Tuesday

Game Notes

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team (14-10, 6-4 WAC) concludes it three-game home stand with a non-conference meeting with New Orleans (15-11) on Tuesday, Feb. 14th. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.
 
The Rainbow Warriors have split the first two games of its home stand, falling to Nevada, 88-79, before bouncing back with a hard-earned 62-58 win over Fresno State on Saturday. Junior center Vander Joaquim notched 23 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks in the win over the Bulldogs.
 
This is the fifth all-time meeting between Hawai'i and New Orleans with UH leading the series, 3-1. The teams last met in 2003 with the 'Bows winning handily, 92-64. The Privateers are a Division I independent that is transitioning to Division II after this season.
 
The game versus New Orleans will be the first of two consecutive non-conference games as UH takes a break from WAC action for nearly two weeks. UH will play at Montana on Saturday, Feb. 18 as part of the Sears BracketBusters event, before returning to WAC play with games at New Mexico State (Feb. 23) and Louisiana Tech (Feb. 25).

Promotions: The first 500 female fans to enter the arena prior to the game will receive a Valentine's Day carnation, compliments of Watanabe Floral. Also, fans can register for the "Valentine Love Toss" promotional contest at halftime, presented by game sponsor Bud Light. Twenty (20) contestants will be picked to shoot a half-court shot and those who make the shot will treat their Valentine to a two-night stay at a hotel in Waikiki.
Coaches: Gib Arnold is in his second year at UH (33-23). Mark Slessinger is in his first year at New Orleans and third year overall (51-36).
