SEATTLE, Wash. – Sophomore
Ashley Satterwhite broke a school record in the 200-meter dash to lead the University of Hawai'i track and field team at the University of Washington Open, Sunday at Demsey Indoor.
One day after the Rainbow Wahine set 14 personal bests and three seasonal-bests, the team added eight more PRs on Sunday led by Satterwhite, who broke Tasha Monroe's previous record of 25.66 seconds set in 2005. The Punahou School graduate placed 11
th overall in the competition with a mark of 25.55 seconds.
Also competing in the race was UH's
Andrea Hinkle, who placed 17
th with a PR time of 25.83 seconds. Just one day earlier, the Radford High School graduate set personal best in the 60-meter dash at the Husky Classic.
In the pole vault, both
Camie Kohashi and
Kaleigh Morrison jumped personal bests of 11-7.75 (3.55m) and placed third and fourth, respectively.
In the shot put,
TeRina Keenan placed fourth with a throw of 47-6.5 (14.49m), just one day after setting a PR in the same event. Teammate Alex Porlier-Langlois threw a personal best of 45-10.5 (13.98m) to place fifth.
Sophomore
Amanda Alvarez had an outstanding weekend. After setting PRs in the 60-meter hurdles and triple jump one day earlier, the Vancouver, Wash., native set two more personal records on Sunday in the 60-meter hurdles (9.41) and in the long jump (17-9/5.41m).
The Rainbow Wahine return to Honolulu to host the Terry Albritton Memorial, Feb. 18, the third of five all-comer meets during the Sunset Series, before competing in the Western Athletic Conference Championships, Feb. 23-25.
