SEATTLE, Wash. – The University of Hawai'i track and field team posted its best team performance of the 2012 indoor season at the Husky Classic, Saturday, at Dempsey Indoor. The team recorded 14 personal-best performances and three seasonal-bests.
In addition, senior
TeRina Keenan captured the shot put competition with a personal best throw of 49-5.5 (15.07m). The Auckland, New Zealand native easily out-distanced runner-up Meagan McKee of Fresno State, who threw 49-1.5 (14.97m), incidentally the same mark of Keenan's previous indoor best.
Senior
Madara Apine placed fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 40-5.5 (12.33m). The team's top runner on the track was freshman
Andrea Hinkle, who placed 21
st in the 200-meters in a time of 25.90 seconds. Hinkle also set a personal best in the 60-meter dash (7.98).
Among the team's 14 personal bests were set by sophomore
Amanda Alvarez in the 60-meter hurdles (9.44) and triple jump (38-7.75/11.78m) and two by sophomore
Kaleigh Morrison in the pole vault (11-4.5/3.47m) and shot put (30-11.25/9.43m).
Three UH athletes set personal bests in the 400-meters –
Ashlee Jimenez (58.38), ?
Ashley Satterwhite (59.65), and ?
Melody Papalii (60.28). Other notables included
Samantha Esperanza in the 60-meters (9.16),
Karen Guravska in the high jump (5-5.75/1.67m),
Camie Kohashi in the pole vault (11-4.5/3.47m),
Alex Porlier Langlois in the shot put (45-7.75/13.91m), and
Joanna Franke-Kuhn in the weight throw (52-2.75/15.92m).
