Hardy-Tuliau Earns UH’s First MW Weekly Award

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo – University of Hawai'i junior defensive back John Hardy-Tuliau was the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week following his performance in UH's 48-10 win over UNLV on Saturday.

Hardy-Tuliau registered six tackles (five solo), two interceptions and two pass breakups as the Warriors snapped an eight-game losing streak. The Temecula, Calif., product scored his first career defensive touchdown on a 38-yard interception return in the second quarter that extended the Warriors lead to 28-0.

Hardy-Tuliau also had a 16-yard interception return late in the fourth quarter becoming the first UH player to record two interceptions in a game since Aaron Brown did it against San Jose State in 2010. He helped aid a Warrior defense that limited the Rebels to just one first down and 35 yards of total offense in the first half.

The two picks pushed Hardy-Tuliau's career total to six, including a team-leading three this season.

Hardy-Tuliau and the Warriors close out the season this Saturday against South Alabama. Kickoff is 6:00 p.m. at Hawaiian Airlines Field at Aloha Stadium.
