STOCKTON, Calif. – Emily Hartong had 25 kills, Ali Longo posted a season-high 25 digs and the No. 7 University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine volleyball team rallied to beat Pacific in five sets (25-16, 25-27, 22-25, 25-16, 15-7). UH extended its NCAA-best active conference winning streak to 70 matches while improving to 23-2 overall and 15-0 in the Big West Conference.

The 'Bows rallied to beat Pacific for the second time this season and put head coach Dave Shoji just one win shy of No. 1,100 for his career. UH trailed Pacific by two sets last month at the Stan Sheriff Center, and tonight turned back the Tigers (20-9, 9-8 BWC) after trailing 2-1.

After an impressive opening win by the 'Bows, Pacific won an exciting set two and took control of the match with a 25-22 set three win. With the momentum seemingly on Pacific's side, UH overpowered the Tigers and won sets four and five handily. The 'Bows grabbed an early 6-2 lead in set four, then broke away with an 8-1 run midway through. In the fifth and deciding set, Pacific won the first two points but Hawai'i kept its composure and scored the next four to force a Pacific timeout. The stoppage did nothing to slow the 'Bows who raced to the 15-7 win and remain perfect in Big West play.

Jane Croson had 18 kills and 15 digs, and Jade Vorster posted 13 kills for a .360 attack percentage. Hartong also tallied 16 digs to add to her stat line.

Anne Sophie Bauer had 15 kills and Hannah Clancy had 19 digs for the Tigers.

The 'Bows controlled much of the opening set. After Bauer gave Pacific an early lead, a pair of Hartong kills helped her team build an 8-4 lead. The Tigers rallied to tie the set at 11-11, but the 'Bows regained the momentum and won going away. UH closed the set on a 6-0 run.

The Tigers staved off a late Hawai'i rally in set two to even the match. They held a 23-18 lead but saw the 'Bows reel off four straight points to cut the lead to just one. A Croson kill held off Pacific's first match point, but Koala Matsuoka's service ace seal the narrow win. Matsuoka had 17 digs Pacific.

Pacific carried the momentum into the third set and opened up a 10-5 lead. A pair of kills each by Gillian Howard (7 kills) and Kat Schulz (9 kills, 9 digs) helped the Tigers to the early lead. Hawai'i went on a 5-1 run midway through the set but was never able to catch Pacific who regained the lead in the match.

Shoji will look to get his milestone win on Saturday when the 'Bows take on UC Davis. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m. PT.
