UH Harriers At Full Strength For Big West Championship

The University of Hawai'i women's cross country team will compete in the Big West Championship, Saturday, Oct. 27 in Riverside, Calif.

For the first time this season, the Rainbow Wahine will be at full strength for the 6K race which will be run at UC Riverside's Agricultural Operations Course. Earlier this season, UH competed at the UCR Invitational, also run on the same course, and placed 15th without its top runner Kevyn Murphy as well as Tiare' Nakashima.

UH is coming off its strongest showing of the season two weeks ago at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational. Murphy took second overall – her highest career finish – with a personal best 18:03.01 and every squad member set seasonal-best marks.

In addition to the UCR Invitational, the only other 6K race UH competed in this season was at the Stanford Invitational. Murphy led the Rainbow Wahine with a time of 22:45.

For the first time, the Big West Conference will provide free, live streaming video from the Big West Cross Country Championships. From the beginning of the races through the finish lines and on to the awards platform, the live stream will provide new access to the championships for fans.

The broadcast will be available on the Big West Cross Country Championships page at http://bit.ly/bwtxc beginning at 8:15 a.m. PT on Championship Saturday and will follow the race leaders through the course.

Produced utilizing technology from StreamCell and UStream, the broadcast will also be available on mobile devices and via the UStream iOS or Android apps on the Big West Conference UStream channel.
