Women's Soccer Returns Home To Host Big West Action

Game Notes

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i women's soccer team plays at home for the first time in nearly a month when it returns to host  UC Riverside and Cal State Fullerton in its first-ever Big West Conference home matches this weekend at the Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Stadium.

UH (5-5-2, 0-1 BWC) will face UC Riverside (5-6-2, 0-2 BWC) on Friday at 7:00 p.m., before taking on Cal State Fullerton (4-7-0, 1-1 BWC) on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. Admission to all Rainbow Wahine soccer matches is free.

Hawai'i made an unsuccessful debut in its new conference when it lost at Cal State Nortridge, 2-0, on Sunday night. It was the team's fourth straight loss, all of those coming on the road. Prior to the current losing skid, the Rainbow Wahine were undefeated in seven straight matches, tying a school record.

A homestand might be just the remedy for the Rainbow Wahine. UH is 4-0-2 at home so far this season and undefeated in its last 11 matches (8-0-3) dating back to last year. The school record is 12, established during the 2007 season.

However, UH will need to shore up things up on both ends of the field in order to get back on the winning track. The Rainbow Wahine have been out-scored 9-2 during its current four-match slide, giving up multiple goals in each loss, Meanwhile, the Rainbow Wahine—who were shutout just once in its first eight matches—went scoreless twice in its last four matches.
