The University of Hawai'i women's soccer team will play its final two home matches of the season when it hosts UC Davis (Friday, Oct. 19, 7:00 p.m.) and Pacific (Sunday, Oct. 21, 5:00 p.m.) this weekend at Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Stadium in a pair of critical Big West Conference matches.
Sunday's match versus Pacific will be “Senior Night” as
Rachel Domingo,
Amber Fuller,
Michelle Nakasone,
Kanani Taaca and
Christy Watanabe will make their final home appearances and be honored after the conclusion of the match.
The Rainbow Wahine (6-8-2, 1-4 BWC) have dropped their last three matches and are coming off a pair of road losses this past weekend, falling 1-0 at UC Santa Barbara and 5-2 at league-leading Cal Poly. UH has lost seven of its last eight matches with six of those losses coming on the road.
Hawai'i looks to return to the win column at home where it has lost just once in its last 13 matches. That loss came in its last home match on Oct. 7 when it fell to Cal State Fullerton, 1-0, in double-overtime. This weekend's results versus UC Davis (7-6-2, 2-2-1 BWC) and Pacific (3-10-1, 0-4-1 BWC) will be key in UH's hopes for qualifying for the Big West Tournament, which will include the league's top four squads. The Rainbow Wahine currently sit in eighth place, but with two more weeks of action, much is yet to be determined.
