Game Notes
The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team (12-9, 4-3 WAC) plays its third straight road game when it travels to San Jose State (7-15, 0-7 WAC) for a Western Athletic Conference contest on Saturday, Feb. 4. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m. PT (4:00 p.m. HT) at the Event Center.
With the first round of WAC action in the books, UH sits in a three-way tie for third-place in the league standings and is just one game out second-place. San Jose State, meanwhile, is in last place after a winless (0-7) start.
UH defeated San Jose State, 83-69, in Honolulu in the WAC opener for both teams on Jan. 7. The 'Bows were led by the duo of
Joston Thomas and
Vander Joaquim who combined for more than half of the team's points and rebounds. Thomas scored a career-high 27 points and added eight rebounds, while Joaquim recorded a double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds.
Things haven't changed much since then as Joaquim (18.4 ppg, 11.1 rpg) and Thomas (17.6 ppg, 7.3 rpg) have been the team's top producers in league play. In UH's last outing, the pair combined for 34 points and 18 rebounds to help lift the 'Bows to a big 76-70 road win at Idaho.
Following its game against the Spartans, UH will return home for a three-game homestand, beginning with a contest versus Nevada on Thursday, Feb. 9.
