Women’s Basketball Battles Louisiana Tech Tonight

GAME NOTES

HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team returns to host its final Western Athletic Conference home opener against Louisiana Tech this Thursday, Jan. 19 at 5:00 p.m. in the Stan Sheriff Center. The Rainbow Wahine will also take on New Mexico State on Saturday, Jan. 21 this week.
 
Hawai'i (5-11, 0-1 WAC) returns home after dropping its conference opener at San Jose State, 83-67. Sophomore guard Sydney Haydel came off the bench to lead UH with a career-high 17 points while sophomore forward Kamilah Jackson grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds. Jackson continues to lead UH with 14.5 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. She is ranked No. 17 in the NCAA DI in rebounds per game and she is is ranked No. 15 with eight double-doubles this season.
 
Louisiana Tech comes to Honolulu with an 8-9 overall record and a 1-1 mark after the first week of WAC action. The Lady Techsters split their first two games at home with a 66-54 win over Idaho before falling to Utah State, 79-62. Louisiana Tech are led by Jasmine Bendolph and Shantale Bramble-Donaldson. Bendolf, a senior guard, is averaging a team-high 10.3 points per game, 28 steals, and a WAC-high 93 assists. Bramble-Donaldson is second on the team with 10.0 points and a team-best 6.6 rebounds per game.
 
Immediately following the women's game against the Lady Techsters, the UH men's basketball team will face Louisiana Tech's men's team in the second-half of the doubleheader.

Ticket Information: Because it's a doubleheader with the UH men's basketball team, tickets bought two hours before tip-off until halftime will be $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $5 for students (ages 4-high school) and fans will be able to stay for the men's game in the upper level. .
Promotions: Verizon is the game sponsor and fans can enter at the marketing table by Gate A to try their luck in the promotional contest at halftime.
Coaches: Dana Takahara-Dias is in her third year at UH (26-50). Theresa Witherspoon is in her fourth year at Louisiana Tech (64-28).
Series Information: Louisiana Tech leads, 24-3. Hawai'i last win over the Lady Techsters came on March 6, 2008, 84-77 under Jim Bolla.
