Jimenez Breaks School Record At UW Indoor Preview

SEATTLE, Wash. – University of Hawai'i sprinter Ashlee Jimenez set a new school record in the 600-meters at the University of Washington Indoor Preview Saturday at Dempsey Indoor.
 
The junior from Lihu'e, Kaua'i completed the race in 1:38.57, which was good for eighth place and bettered the old record of 1:38.95 set by Ashley Monfort in 2007.
 
Among the other notable performances by the Rainbow Wahine was TeRina Keenan's second place finish in the shot put and Madara Apine's third place showing in the triple jump. Keenan tied for the top collegiate mark in the competition with Concordia's Kayla Xavier with a throw of 47-9 (14.55m). Apine was the top collegiate finisher after clearing 39-7.75 (12.08m).
 
The UW Preview is the first of three trips for the Rainbow Wahine to Seattle this season. UH will also compete in the UW Invitational (Jan. 27-28), Husky Classic (Feb. 11), and UW Open (Feb. 12).
 
UH's pole vaulters will next compete in the Pole Vault Summit, Jan. 20-21, in Reno, Nev.
