The Spartans led 39-28 at the break.

The second half started with SJSU outscoring UH early, 14-to-7 to build as big a lead as 20 points at the 13:45 mark. But the Rainbow Wahine then tried to mount a comeback, going on a 9-0 run to cut the score to 59-48 with seven minutes to go. SJSU sunk 14 of their final 24 points on free throws to close the game.

San Jose State outscored UH, 24-to-22 in the paint and scored 22 points off of UH's 17 turnovers. But the 'Bows scored 20 second-chance points to SJSU's 12 and Hawai`i's bench outscored the Spartans 28-to-7.

The Rainbow Wahine return home and will face Louisiana Tech next on Thursday, Jan. 19 and New Mexico State on Saturday, Jan. 21 at the Stan Sheriff Center. Both games start at 5:00 p.m. as the first game of doubleheaders with the men's basketball team.
