UH Not Enough For No. 16 Mississippi State

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team was defeated Saturday by No. 16 Mississippi State, 7-0. The 'Bows conclude their three-match stretch Sunday against UC Santa Barbara.
 
UH was swept in doubles play as Chris Meyer and Carter Lam's loss in two doubles was the deciding result. The Bulldog tandem of James Chaudry and George Coupland topped the UH pair, 8-6. Chas Okamoto and Chris Meyer lost, 8-4, at the three with Jonathan Brooklyn and Nils Schuhmann falling in one doubles, 8-7 (2).
 
Hawai'i dropped the first four singles results which gave MSU the win. Okamoto and Schuhmann had their work cut out for them against ranked opponents at the three and four, respectively. Okamoto lost to No. 45 Louis Cant, 6-4, 6-3 and Schuhmann dropped a 6-3, 6-1 result to No. 32 George Coupland.
 
UH faces off with UC Santa Barbara on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
