No. 12 Rainbow Wahine Host Verizon Volleyball Challenge

HONOLULU – The No. 12 University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team (5-1) looks to rebound off its first loss of the season as it hosts the Verizon Volleyball Challenge this weekend at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Hawai'i will play on Thursday, Sept. 8 against Rice, Friday, Sept. 9 versus Pacific, then close the tournament playing Cincinnati on Saturday, Sept. 10. All match times are set for 7:00 p.m.

The 'Bows dropped two spots in the AVCA national poll after losing to then No. 12 UCLA this past weekend at the Hawaiian Airlines Wahine Volleyball Classic.

Kanani Danielson continues to lead the UH attack, with Emily Maeda and Brittany Hewitt doing the job defensively. Danielson is averaging 3.73 kills per set, Maeda has a team-high 3.76 digs per set, and Hewitt boasts 29 total blocks on the season.

The 'Bows open the tournament against Rice this Thursday at 7:00 p.m.

Television: OCSports – Channels 12 (SD) and 1012 (HD) will be broadcasting every match EXCEPT for Saturday's contest between Rice and Pacific. Jim Leahey will be calling the play-by-play with Chris McLachlin doing color commentary.

Radio: ESPN Radio (1420 AM) will broadcast all UH games live with Scott Robbs handling the play-by-play.
