WAIPAHU, O'ahu – The University of Hawai'i women's soccer team garnered an epic win with a 2-1 double-overtime upset of defending league champion Utah State in the Western Athletic Conference opener Friday night at Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Stadium.

Brittani Lum scored the golden goal off a Rachel Domingo corner kick in the 105th minute, handing head coach Michele Nagamine her first-ever WAC win in dramatic fashion. It was the first time UH (2-8, 1-0 WAC) opened conference play with a win since 2007.

UH entered the match as a huge underdog having won just once in nine matches this year, while the the Aggies (8-4-1, 0-1 WAC) came into town with a league best eight non-conference wins. But all that went out the door once the whistle was blown as UH went toe-to-toe with the WAC preseason favorite.

The Rainbow Wahine got on the board first when Ashley Harkui scored her first career goal with just 58 seconds left in the first half by putting home an open net goal following Skye Shimabukuro's deflected shot attempt in traffic.

The Aggies, however, responded midway through the second half when they were awarded a free kick near the sideline. After UH failed to clear the ball, Lexie Morgan had a clear shot from close range and recorded the equalizer in the 74th minute.

The teams played scoreless for the next 30 minutes until UH earned a corner kick with a little more than five minutes left in the second overtime period. Domingo lofted the kick at the mouth of the goal where it deflected off of Lum and into the goal, sending the team and the Waipi'o crowd into pandemonium.

The team's finished tied in shots, 13-13, while UH controlled much of the pace after the first half when they held a 9-5 advantage in shots. UH also had six corner kicks to the Aggies' three.

The Rainbow Wahine continue WAC play on Sunday when they host Nevada. Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m. at the Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Stadium
