HONOLULU – The No. 11 University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team defeated No. 21 Pepperdine on Friday in four sets, 25-14, 25-23, 20-25, 25-17. UH improves to 9-1 while Pepperdine falls to 6-4.

Kanani Danielson recorded a match-high 16 kills, and her 12 digs puts her 18 away from recording 1,000 for her career. Coupled with 1,428 career kills, she would become just the seventh player in program history to record 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in a career.

Brittany Hewitt dominated at the net with 14 blocks, just two off her career-high. Chanteal Satele posted 12 kills and Jane Croson added a match-high 19 digs. Kim Hill had a team-high 11 kills for the Waves.

UH dominated Pepperdine in set one en route to a 25-14 win. The 'Bows won six of the set's first seven points highlighted by a pair of Hewitt kills. The lead swelled to 14 points at 19-5 as Hawai'i cruised to the early set lead.

Set two proved to be a much taller order, but the 'Bows were equal to the task. The set was close throughout, as neither team led by more than two points at any time. With the score knotted at 21-21, Emily Hartong (8 K) and Danielson each recorded a kill to give UH a late lead. The teams traded points before a Satele kill gave UH the win.

Pepperdine prevented the sweep with a 25-20 win in set three, but Hawai'i rebounded with a set four win to close out the match. The 'Bows opened with five straight points and never looked back. The Waves cut the lead to 21-16 but would score just one more point.

There were 6,478 tickets issued for the contest, and a turnstile count of 5,243.

UH and Pepperdine wrap up their two-match set on Saturday, September 17, at 7:00 p.m. All spectators in attendance will have the opportunity to remain for the filming of Hawaii Five-0, which will commence following the conclusion of the match.
