HONOLULU — University of Hawai'i outside hitter
Cha'lei Reid represented the Rainbow Wahine on the 2026 Mountain West Women's Volleyball Preseason Team announced on Wednesday.
UH enters its first season in the Mountain West, and Reid was among the seven players voted to the preseason team by the conference's coaches.
The sophomore put away 335 total kills and averaged 3.35 kills per set last season, becoming the fourth freshman in program history and first since 2019 to lead the team in kills. Reid also served up 44 service aces, UH's highest single-season total since 2019, and ranked 34
th in the nation with 0.44 aces per set. She made the Big West All-Freshman team last year and was an All-Big West honorable mention pick.
As a team, UH placed fifth in the Mountain West preseason poll with 67 points. UTEP led the voting with 84 points, followed by former Big West member UC Davis with 80 points. Grand Canyon and Wyoming placed third and fourth, respectively.
The Rainbow Wahine open Joshua Walker's inaugural season as head coach on Aug. 28 when they face Georgia Southern in the Hawaiian Airlines Wahine Volleyball Classic at Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.
