HONOLULU — The University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team swept past Chaminade in an exhibition victory in its first appearance at Bankoh Arena at the Stan Sheriff Center under the leadership of first-year head coach Joshua Walker.
The Rainbow Wahine hit .340 as a team and rolled to a 25-20, 25-16, 25-10 win in the exhibition with the Silverswords. UH also won a bonus fourth set 25-13 to close out the evening.
Walker, a former All-America outside hitter and assistant coach with the UH men's volleyball program, saw the 'Bows break away from the Silverswords late in the opening set and maintain control of the next three.
All 15 players on the UH roster got into the match. Senior outside hitter
Panna Ratkai led the attack with a match-high 13 kills on 35 attempts, and middle blocker
Miliana Sylvester added 11 kills while hitting .625. Sylvester was also in on six of UH's seven blocks.
Setter
Adrianna Arquette distributed 35 assists while leading an efficient UH offense, and libero
Victoria Leyva came up with nine digs.
The Rainbow Wahine hit .319 in the opening set, with Ratkai and Sylvester powering the attack. Ratkai put away eight kills on 18 swings, and Sylvester added six kills on 11 attempts. UH took command with a 4-0 run to open up a 22-17 lead, and
Cha'lei Reid was credited with a kill following a review to close out the set.
Sylvester continued to produce in the second set, converting on all four of her attacks and putting down three blocks. Reid also contributed four kills to help the 'Bows pull away.
Arquette and freshman
Manon Baudrillard shared setting duties in the third set and led UH to a .370 hitting percentage to close out the regulation portion of the exhibition. Baudrillard had six assists in the set and went on to play the fourth as well.
The Rainbow Wahine officially open the 2026 season on Aug. 28 when they face Georgia Southern in the Hawaiian Airlines Wahine Volleyball Classic.
