Game Notes
HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i women's soccer team is back in action this weekend when it hosts the 'OHANA Hotels No Ka 'Oi tournament, Aug. 26-28 at the Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Stadium.
California (1-1), out of the Pac-12 conference, and North Dakota State (1-0) out of the Summit League, join UH (0-1) in the round-robin tournament. Cal and NDSU open the tournament on Friday at 7:00 p.m., while UH faces NDSU Saturday at 7:00 p.m. and Cal on Sunday at 5:00 p.m.
UH is coming off a 3-1 season-opening loss to Washington State last Friday in the debut of first-year head coach
Michele Nagamine. Despite the loss, the Rainbow Wahine showed new life under its rookie coach, scoring an early goal and taking the lead into halftime. The match was witnessed by 2,850 fans at Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Stadium, the second-largest home crowd in program history.
This will be the first-ever meeting between UH and North Dakota State, while the Rainbow Wahine will meet for the third time ever on the pitch and for the second time in as many years. Last year, a nationally ranked Golden Bear squad dismantled UH, 8-1, in Berkeley.
Following this weekend's tournament, UH will head to the road for the first time for a trio of matches in California
