HONOLULU – University of Hawai'i Athletics Director Jim Donovan announced the addition of the University of South Alabama to the 2012 football schedule.  The teams will close out the regular season with a game on Dec. 1 at Aloha Stadium.

 

The Jaguars replace Western Kentucky on the 2012 schedule. The Hilltoppers, out of the Sun Belt Conference, will meet the Warriors in a future season to be determined.

 

The South Alabama football program is currently in just its third year of existence. The program began competition in 2009 and will be in its second transitional season as an FBS program when the teams meet in 2012. The Jaguars will be competing in the Sun Belt Conference in 2013.

 

This will be the first meeting between Hawai'i and South Alabama on the football field.

 

The 2012 non-conference schedule for UH currently includes road games at USC (Sept. 1) and Brigham Young (Sept. 8) to open the season and a home game against Lamar (Sept. 15).
