HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team blanked Louisiana Tech, 7-0, Sunday afternoon, in a Western Athletic Conference match-up at the UH Tennis Complex.

 

The Rainbow Wahine (7-10, 2-1 WAC) wasted little time against the Lady Bulldogs with a dominant effort in both doubles and singles.

 

UH got things started by winning all three doubles matches to take the point, including Barbara Pinterova and Katarina Poljakova's 8-0 shutout of Elne Barnard and Anna Zurek at the top position.

 

In singles play, five of the six matches were decided in straight sets. Aglae Van den Bergh was the first to finish with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Alena Erofeyeva at court 6. Minutes later, Alyssa Nafarrete gave UH a 3-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Anna Zurek at No. 5.

 

Poljakova clinched the match for the Rainbow Wahine at court 1 with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Barnard at the featured court. Hawai'i wrapped up the sweep with wins by Natasha Zorec (Court 3), Xenia Suworowa (Court 4), and Pinterova (Court 2).

 

UH will take the next two weeks off before hosting Albany in its regular season finale, April 19, at the UH Tennis Complex.
