BOISE, Idaho – The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team's season came to an end with a 4-1 loss against Nevada in the quarterfinals of the Western Athletic Conference Tournament Thursday afternoon at the Boise Racquet and Swim Club. UH concluded the year with three straight losses to finish 8-13.
The day started off right for the Rainbow Wahine, who were able to secure the first point in doubles.
Barbara Pinterova and
Katarina Poljakova defeated Florence De Vrye and Michelle Okhremchuk, 8-6 at the No. 1 court.
Xenia Suworowa and
Natasha Zorec were also victorious, with a commanding 8-1 victory over Emma Verberne and Lais Ogata at the No. 2 court.
Despite the great start, the No. 6 seeded Rainbow Wahine were unable to overcome Nevada in singles play The Wolfpack (11-9, 5-1 WAC) claimed four of the six singles courts, including a 6-3, 6-3 victory by Emma Verbane over Zorec, who played in her final match as a Rainbow Wahine. With the team result in hand the final two singles matchups featuring Suworowa and
Alyssa Nafarrete went unfinished.
