LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team will conclude its regular season with a pair of road matches against Western Athletic Conference rivals New Mexico State and No. 72 Boise State. Winning these last two matches will help secure a WAC Championship berth for the Rainbow Wahine.
New Mexico State (11-7, 2-3 WAC) has won their last two matches, including a victory over another WAC opponent Louisiana Tech and will look to Manon Sylvain and senior, Isabela Kulaif, to continue their dominant play. The Aggies currently hold the sixth seed in the WAC rankings.
After the match in Las Cruces, the Rainbow Wahine will head to Boise, Idaho to take on No. 72 Boise State in their last conference match of the season. The Broncos (14-7, 4-1 WAC) hold the second seed in the current WAC rankings with their only conference loss coming from Nevada. Sandy Vo, Morgan Basil and senior, Lauren Megale have all won their last three matches in a row in singles action and Elyse Edwards and Sonia Klamczynska are on an impressive six match win streak in doubles.
The Rainbow Wahine (8-10, 2-1 WAC) have won their last three matches in a row and are looking to notch two more victories before the WAC Championships begin next week. UH currently holds the fourth seed in WAC rankings, however, they are still in contention for the second seed, if Nevada loses and the Rainbow Wahine defeat New Mexico State on Friday and Boise State on Sunday. Hawai'i will look to newcomer
Xenia Suworowa, who is on a four match win streak in singles and veterans
Barbara Pinterova,
Natasha Zorec and
